KVC’s Mission is “To enrich and enhance the lives of children and their families by providing medical and behavioral healthcare, social services, and education.” KVC is a private, not-for-profit organization. It has provided services to children and families since 1970. KVC is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and represents one of the largest family centered systems of care in the state of Kansas.

In addition to being JCAHO accredited, KVC is a member of the Child Welfare League of America and Children's Alliance of Kansas. KVC is also licensed as a Child Placing Agency by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. KVC is committed to providing a range of networked programs that enable children, youth and their families to receive professional services according to their needs.

KVC’s approach is based on the positive youth development model that identifies the key elements of promoting healthy choices. Youth develop skills in the four areas that are essential to create healthy relationships including a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and power. By design, this framework of positive youth development is provided with the implementation of support services.
