Shawnee County Family Resource Center (SCFRC), founded in 1995 and incorporated as a 501(c) 3 Corporation in 2000, was established to build the community's capacity to respond to children, families and adults in need. SCFRC provides a single point of entry to service delivery systems including health, mental health, substance abuse and emergency assistance. SCFRC houses three critical intake, assessment and referral services: Juvenile Intake and Assessment, KS NE Region SRS intake and assessment and Family Support Services. This integrated system of care coordinates intake, assessment, case management, emergency resources and referral services easing individuals and families' access to care.

SCFRC was developed by community leaders to be a major support system to families. With an emphasis on prevention and early intervention services fewer children will require placement in the child welfare or juvenile justice system. Now having experienced ten years of working together, services providers have been able to not only decrease duplication of services but also develop new, innovative programs that better meet the community's needs.
