Working Together: Building Solutions for Children

Vision
The Alliance and its membership champions connectedness and cooperation across all public and private entities that help produce healthy and sustaining families in Kansas.
Mission
The mission of the Children's Alliance is to promote the success and influence of its member agencies to assure comprehensive, relevant and effective services in a fully integrated public private network that protects and strengthens the welfare of children and families in Kansas. We provide effective advocacy, conduct comprehensive training, deliver operational support, produce relevant research and provide consultation services to its members.

Services Provided by the Alliance

Collaborative Projects
FPTP

Foster Parent Training and Recruitment Project (FPTP)
Since 1995, the Alliance has administered this statewide training program offering Model Approach to Partnership in Parenting and on-going training for foster and adoptive parents, agency staff, community and Social Rehabilitation Services professionals, training over 5,000 individuals annually.
Funding for classes is provided by SRS. All classes are free to anyone who wants to take them who lives in the State of Kansas.
This project is centered out of the Alliance. Through a toll free number, prospective foster parents are connected to agencies in their area.

CBSTP

Community Based ServicesTraining Project (CBSTP)
Through the CWCBS project, the Children's Alliance created and administers a pre-service training that provides standardized training for all child welfare case managers prior to receiving a case load. The project also coordinates on-going case management and supervision training and hosts two Excellence in Supervision conferences per year for child welfare supervisors.

CAFRP

Children's Alliance Family Resource Project (CAFRP)
The Alliance has administered this project since 1991. It utilizes a network of emergency care agencies to provide resources to families in hopes to prevent children from entering state custody. Over 8,000 children are served annually.

Alliance Services
Advocacy

Advocacy
As an important part of its role in helping member agencies better serve children and families of Kansas, the Alliance advocates for strengthening public policy in prevention and protection services, child welfare, children's health, and juvenile justice. The advocacy efforts not only target the Kansas Legislature but also the Governor and state agencies that play a key part in formulating public policy.

MAPP

Model Approaches to Partnership in Parenting (MAPP)
Every potential foster or adoptive parent in Kansas is required to complete PS-MAPP training before a child can be placed in their home. The program guides potential applicants through the complex issues they will face as foster or adoptive parents.

Choices

Choices Program
Children's Alliance is proud to be part of circulating a unique program to help children learn to make better choices. The Choices program was developed to encourage preteens/teens to stop and think about the consequences prior to making decisions. They also discover how to overcome obstacles standing in the way of happiness and realize that they are not alone in their feelings.
