MAPP Deciding Together
Leader Training

ONLINE Course with Bonus LIVE Seminar

The Children's Alliance of Kansas offers the Deciding Together Leader Training in its popular "blended" online format. There is a comprehensive online course component followed by a live seminar to pull it all together.

The Deciding Together program was developed by The Child Welfare Institute and is based upon the content of the MAPP Group Preparation and Selection Program. It is designed for use with prospective resource parents who cannot participate in the MAPP-GPS or PS-MAPP groups. The program uses seven family consultations in combination with six parent guidebooks to assess and develop (or enhance) 12 core skills for successful foster or adoptive parenting.

The Deciding Together Leader class provides certified MAPP-GPS and/or PS-MAPP Leaders the tools and skills necessary for conducting each the family consultations, including advance preparation and follow up tasks.

Typically the Deciding Together Leader certification requires leaders to attend a three day face to face class. In the online version, this face to face training is converted to a two week online format with a one day face to face meeting. Participants will log onto the website daily and complete assignments offline and online. There is a discussion forum where each individual will post their comments and answers to their assignments.

Participants who wish to take this online class must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a certified Leader in MAPP-GPS or PS-MAPP
  • Be self motivated
  • Be willing to commit 100% to complete the course
  • Have computer and internet access
  • Have a valid email address
  • Be able to attend the one day face-to-face component
