Kinship Origins

Take the first step toward a brighter future as a kinship caregiver

When relatives get the call to foster a child, the request is often urgent. Relatives open their homes first and ask questions later.

We’ve created Kinship Origins for these caring relatives.

Kinship Origins is:

  • an orientation to Kansas foster care,

  • an introduction to helping kids navigate big feelings during difficult times, and

  • a foundation to support family members in the role of foster parent.

Access Kinship Origins today with your phone, tablet or laptop.

It’s free to Kansas caregivers—no strings attached.

What will I learn?

Kinship caregivers told us what they needed as we designed this course. We answer questions like:

  • Where do I start?

  • How do I help my kin-child with their feelings and behaviors?

  • How do I help my kin-child stay connected with their parent(s)?

  • Who are all these agency people? What is the court process?

  • What resources are available for our family?

How does this work?

Kinship Origins is a free, self-paced online course.

  • Access now through the internet on your phone, laptop or computer.

  • Choose which topics you’d like to review, in the order that works best for you.
